How to Fix Your Swimming Triathlon Wetsuits?

Wetsuit can last for a long time if you look after it. However, accidents do happen. So, what can you do when you find a small hole, cut or even a tear on your wetsuits?

The most common reason for wetsuit damage is tear during the dressing period. But don’t worry, these damages can be fix fairly easily if you find the damage early enough and have the proper glue to fix them.

All you need to fix a cut in the wetsuit is some neoprene glue, a cotton swab, and some tissue.

  1. Expose the cut on the neoprene.
  2. Apply the proper amount of glue on the cut.
  3. Use the cotton swab to spread the glue within the cut.
  4. Clean any excess glue with the tissue.
  5. Wait (a couple of minutes) until the glue turns sticky.
  6. Close up the cut and let it rest for about 24 hours.

Now, we are done with the repair process and you have a working wetsuit again.

Scratches may seem minor, but they can compromise the integrity of your wetsuit over time. Here’s how to minimize the risk of scratches:

  1. Choose a Safe Environment: When swimming, be mindful of your surroundings. Avoid rocky areas or surfaces that could scratch your wetsuit.

  2. Watch Your Gear: Be cautious with other equipment, like fins, boards, or even sharp edges on the pool deck, to prevent accidental scratches.

  3. Rinse After Use: After each swim, rinse your wetsuit thoroughly to remove any debris or sand that could cause scratches in the future
